How the wine quiz works
Seven questions, and not one of them is about wine. You will be asked about coffee, chocolate, what you order when someone else is cooking, how sweet you like things, and how far you want to wander from what you already know.
That works because taste travels. Someone who drinks black coffee and eats 85 percent dark chocolate almost always gets on better with a firm, tannic red than someone who takes a milky latte and reaches for milk chocolate. You already know your palate. You just have not translated it into grape names yet.
It takes about a minute. Enter your email after the seven questions to reveal your personal wine match. No payment or account is needed.
The eight wine profiles
Every set of answers lands on one of eight profiles. None of them is a beginner tier, and none is more sophisticated than the rest. Sweet is a preference, not a stage you grow out of.
- The Bold Explorer: full bodied reds with nothing held back. Malbec, Zinfandel, Syrah.
- The Smooth Classic: medium bodied reds that please a whole table. Merlot, Grenache, riper Pinot Noir.
- The Elegant Minimalist: light reds and structured whites. Pinot Noir, Chablis, Gamay.
- The Crisp Refresher: zesty whites with real bite. Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, Picpoul.
- The Golden Comfort: rich, rounded whites. Oaked Chardonnay, Viognier, White Rioja.
- The Sweet Spot: off dry and aromatic. Riesling, Moscato, Gewürztraminer.
- The Celebration Seeker: bubbles on a Tuesday. Cava, Crémant, Champagne.
- The Rosé All-Rounder: dry rosé that goes with everything. Provence rosé, Spanish Rosado.
What you get at the end
Your profile page names the grapes that suit you, real bottles in three price bands, and the food that makes them taste better. From there you can go straight to a pairing guide, or look at wine clubs if you would rather have someone else do the choosing.
What a quiz cannot do
It reads your preferences. It cannot taste for you. Your profile is a starting point, not a verdict, and plenty of people sit between two of them. If your first bottle misses, that is useful information rather than a wrong answer, and the fastest way to learn your own palate is to notice what you did not like about it.
New to all of this? Start with wine for beginners and come back to the quiz afterwards.
Common questions
Is the wine quiz free?
Yes. There is no payment or account to create. An email address is required to reveal your match, and you can take the quiz as many times as you like.
How long does it take?
About sixty seconds. Seven questions, one screen each, and no wine knowledge needed to answer any of them.
What if I do not know anything about wine?
That is who the quiz is built for. Every question is about food, drink and mood, not about grapes or regions. You never have to name a wine to get a result.
Can I get a different result later?
Yes, and you probably will. Palates shift, and answering honestly on a different day can land you on a neighbouring profile. Both results are worth trusting.
